The Huicholes, also known as Wixárikas, are a Mexican indigenous group that lives mainly in the Sierra Madre Occidental, in the states of Jalisco, Nayarit, Durango and Zacatecas. Location:

Language: 
The Huichol language, also called Wixárika, belongs to the Yuto-nahua linguistic family and has variants spoken in the states mentioned.

Worldview:
The Huicholes have a deeply spiritual vision of the world, where nature is sacred and is interconnected with its deities.

Peyote:
Peyote, a psychedelic plant, plays a central role in its rituals and ceremonies as a means to connect with the divine.

Art:
His art is vibrant and symbolic, expressed through colorful embroidery, chaquiras, pieces of wool and nierikas (small paintings with intricate designs).

Rituals:
His  rituals, led by the mara'akame (shaman), include dances, music, offerings and ceremonies to honor ancestors and pray for the health and well-being of the community.

Food:
His traditional diet includes foods such as quelites, maguey flowers, and drinks such as tejuino.

Challenges: 
The Huicholes face challenges such as the defense of their ancestral lands, the preservation of their culture and the migration of young people to urban areas in search of better economic opportunities.

Importance: Huichol culture is a living testimony of the richness and diversity of the indigenous peoples of Mexico, and their struggle to preserve their traditions and their territory is an example of resistance and defense of their rights.
